One of the most recent additions to the cisco exam track is the CCNA video. It was officially introduced last 22nd of January, 2013. In recent times, video communication has become more and more essential in the enterprise world. That is why Cisco decided to provide a program which will prove your knowledge about Cisco’s video solutions (Cisco TelePresence, videoconferencing and mobile video applications). Though an entry level certification, there is a lot of configuration involved. CCNA Video is designed for video professionals who design, install and support video solutions on Video-Voice-over-IP networks. The certification also validates a candidate’s knowledge of the architecture, components, functionalities and features of Cisco Unified Communications Manager solutions. As the video/voice-over-IP market continues to grow at a very fast pace, obtaining these certifications will allow people interested in these technologies to make an easier entry into the market. It’s likely that Cisco may introduce a professional level (CCNP) video track at some point to complement this growth.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Cisco video certification programs has a practically relevant, and job-ready certification curricula aligned ,closely with the specific tasks expected of today’s in-demand network video professionals.
The CCNA Video certification is an associate-level certification that is valid for three years.
The cost for the exam is $250.

There are no prerequisites for CCNA Video certification and completion of it requires the following exams;

Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Communications Administration (640-461 ICOMM)

After passing the first exam (200-001 VIVND), you will become Cisco Video Network Specialist (an additional certificate is issued by cisco). The CCNA Video certification is a necessity for anyone interested in cisco video (TelePresence and Video Conferencing). As one of the requirementsfor achieving the certification is the ICOMM exam, a thorough knowledge of cisco voice is needed. Call manager knowledge is essential. For anyone intending to do the exam, I would recommend that the person attends the training and spend some time with the equipment, either in the lab or in real life.
